This week I got the chance to sit down with Emelia Blair, one of the authors of Romantically Ever After, and ask her about her new book, what inspires her, and what she’s learned from imagining the stories we love to read.
MS: Emelia, thank you so much for sitting down with me and answering a few questions for my readers. With your new anthology coming out this week, Romantically Ever After, lots of new readers will get a chance to read you for the first time. How excited are you for this book?
EB: Thanks for having me, Molly. This has been a crazy year with my new series, Hot Resistance, and this anthology. I could not be more excited to have my book next to S.E. Rose and Krista Sandor. I’m thrilled to have people who’ve never read me before, get the chance through this anthology!
MS: Where do you get your inspiration or ideas for your books?
EB: My inspiration comes from different places. A scene from a movie, a conversation about two people standing in front of me in a queue, an incident from the past. Inspiration is everywhere.
MS: What do you like to do when you’re not writing?
EB: This will sound cliché, but I love reading books. Also, I love baking and cooking in general. My last attempt was ice-cream.
MS: What does your family think of your writing?
EB: I’m a little shy letting my family read my writing. Hubby is not into romance genre so he didn’t read any of my books so far. He’s so supportive though!
MS: What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?
EB: It’s not really a quirk but I love listening to music when I write and have something to drink.
MS: Amen! What was one of the most surprising things you learned in creating your books?
EB: The most surprising thing was that I could write a book in the first place. I love creating worlds and stories and get lost in them. Writing the first book is quite challenging though.
