Interview with R.B. Hillard, author of, Die for Her

I wanted you to know that R.B. Hillard just released her new book last week, called, Die for Her. I was lucky enough to sit down with her before the book’s release and ask her more about it. If you like Action/Adventure Romance with a dose of suspense, I think you will really like R.B.  Scroll down to read our conversation and then click on the cover to grab it from Amazon.  It’s free on Kindle Unlimited.  If you’re interested in reading the first in her series, Steel Raiders MC, scroll past our interview for that link.  I hope you enjoy it!

MS: Thanks for joining me RB. I’m so excited to discuss your writing and more importantly, your new book, Die for Her.

RB:  Thanks for having me, Molly.  It’s going to be fun sharing with your readers.

MS: Let’s get right to it. When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?

RB: Let’s see I’ve always been a voracious reader, but it wasn’t until 2012—when I was between jobs—that I decided to write my first novel. It took two, gruelingly long years, and I loved every single minute of it. That’s when I knew I’d found my calling in life.

MS: How long did it take you to write your new book, Die for Her? Is that typical?

RB: My latest novel, Die for Her, took about five months to write. Depending on the word count, it normally takes me between four to six months to complete a novel. Due to Covid-19, this book took a little longer than planned to finish.

MS: What’s is your work schedule like when you are writing?

RB:  My ideal work schedule is to write while my kids are in school. I give two days for each chapter, which means I write three to four chapters a week, if all goes well. (Note that I wrote my ideal work schedule). In truth, I end up writing some nights as well as on weekends.

MS: Do you have a weird writing quirk? You abide by, like three cups of green tea, a happy light, or maybe a soundproof room?

RB: Writing quirks: I have a few of these. First, I need complete silence to write. As you can imagine, this is difficult to accomplish with children around. Thankfully, I have a fan in my office that is loud enough to drown out most outside noises. Quirk number two: I am a planner. I have decomposition books for each of my novels. If I have an idea, I write it down. At the end of each chapter, I plan out the next one in my notebook. My last quirk: I divide my hours into 45/15 min. time frames. In other words, I write for 45 minutes and then take a 15-minute break. This helps to keep me on track.

MS: I see you like to write about Alpha men and rock stars. What is it about them that intrigues you? Confess…Did you once date Glenn Frey from the Eagles?

RB: Yes, I write about alpha men and rock stars, but I also write about the strong women who tame them. I love the taming process. I also enjoy sprinkling in a little (or a lot) of suspense into my novels. I want to keep you guessing to the very end.

MS: What is one of the most surprising things you learned about Arlan and Luciana in Die for Her?

RB: In my latest novel, Die for Her, the action predominantly centers around Luciana, however, it’s Arlan who takes the journey of self-discovery. This was unexpected, yet so exciting to write!

MS: So RB, how can people find you?
RB: Oh, yes, you can find me on any of the following platforms.
